Your data & privacy

Know where your data stays—and where it does not.

PureStream is local-first, but listening to an open podcast still involves networks and publishers. This is the plain-language map: what the app stores, when data leaves your device, and which online services you choose.

Listening does not require an account.

You can keep a local library and play open podcasts without signing in. Account sync is optional, and PureStream Plus is not on sale.

The data map

Four moments, four clear boundaries.

On your device

Your listening life starts local

Your library and subscriptions, episode lists, playback position, queue, downloads, listening history, and settings stay on your device unless you choose an online feature that needs them.

When you connect

Publishers deliver the audio

Adding, refreshing, streaming, or downloading a podcast can connect your device to its podcast publisher, feed host, or media host. They may receive your IP address and standard request details so they can deliver the feed or audio.

If you choose an account

Sync is optional

An account uses the identity details needed to create and recover it. If you turn on sync, PureStream stores the subscriptions and listening state needed to keep your chosen devices in step. You can listen without an account.

If Plus opens

Payment stays separate from listening

Card details will be entered on Stripe’s hosted checkout and will never reach S6 or PureStream. Listening history, subscriptions, downloads, searches, and Smart Segment data will never be sent to Stripe or another payment processor.

Your choices today

Use less online service when that suits you.

Listen signed out, keep your library local, and choose whether to use discovery or future sync. Podcast hosts still receive the network information needed to serve content you request.

The Privacy Policy is the complete notice, including discovery requests, service providers, retention, deletion, and contact details.

No hidden switchboard

This page explains choices; it does not pretend unavailable controls are live.

Sign-in and Plus are still closed. When account controls open, the account page will be their canonical home.
