Open podcasting & portability

Your podcast library should be yours to move.

PureStream is built around open podcast feeds. RSS lets podcast publishers deliver their shows without putting the whole ecosystem behind one platform, while OPML gives listeners a common way to carry a subscription list between compatible podcast apps.

This page is a guide, not an import control.

It explains the portable formats PureStream supports. Import and export happen inside a compatible podcast app; this public website does not ask you to upload a library file or sign in.

Two open building blocks

Feeds carry shows. OPML carries a list.

Follow any compatible feed

RSS

An RSS feed is the publisher-controlled address where a podcast describes its show and episodes. A podcast app reads that feed and requests its artwork or audio from the publisher, feed host, or media host.

Carry your subscriptions

OPML

An OPML file is a portable list of feed addresses. Compatible podcast apps can export and import it so you do not have to find and subscribe to every show again when moving your library.

A portable handoff

Move your podcast library in four steps.

  1. 1

    Choose an OPML export

In your current compatible podcast app, look for its OPML export option. The exact menu and filename belong to that app.

  2. 2

    Keep the file private

The file can reveal which shows you follow. Save it somewhere you control and share it only with the app you intend to use.

  3. 3

Import it in the new app

Choose the receiving app’s OPML import option. An account is optional in PureStream; this website does not receive the file.

  4. 4

    Check your library

Confirm the feeds you expected appear. OPML carries subscription addresses, not necessarily downloads, listening history, queues, settings, or playback positions.

Know the boundary

Open does not mean offline or anonymous.

Refreshing a feed, loading artwork, streaming, or downloading still connects your device to podcast publishers and hosting providers. They may receive an IP address and standard request details needed to serve the content.

What portability includes

OPML is useful for moving a subscription list. The feature guide describes PureStream’s wider library and player capabilities.

What leaves your device

The Your Data & Privacy guide maps local listening, publisher requests, optional sync, and future payment handling.

Choose an available platform

Keep control without guessing where the app is live.

The availability page identifies the web player that is open now and keeps native platforms status-only until their listings are confirmed.
