PureStream Podcasts — Privacy Policy

Draft notice. This policy was authored to describe the App's *actual* data practices and is an original document (it is not a rebrand of any third party's policy). Please have it reviewed by the product owner — and where appropriate, legal counsel — before relying on it in production. Update the contact address and effective date before publishing.

1. Summary

PureStream Podcasts is a podcast player that is on-device first. You can add podcasts by RSS/OPML

URL or by browsing the PureStream discovery directory. Your library, playback position, downloads, and

settings live on your device. You can optionally create a PureStream account to sync your

subscriptions across devices. The App does not use Pocket Casts or Automattic services, and we do

not sell your personal information.

2. What the App stores on your device

The following stays on your device and is not sent to us unless you enable account sync (Section 4):

the podcasts you subscribe to and your episode list;
playback position, play/queue (Up Next) state, and listening history;
downloaded episodes and files you add;
app settings and preferences.

3. Podcast feeds and media (third-party hosts)

When you add or refresh a podcast, or stream/download an episode, the App connects **directly to that

podcast's own host** (the feed URL and the episode's media URL) to fetch the content. Those hosts are

operated by third parties and may receive your IP address and standard request metadata as part of

delivering the content. Their handling of that data is governed by their privacy practices, not

this policy. We do not control or receive that data.

4. PureStream account and cross-device sync (optional)

Creating a PureStream account is optional; the App is fully usable without one.

Discovery (no account needed): browsing/searching the PureStream discovery directory sends your

search terms to the PureStream API (purestream.s6ops.com / PureAPI) to return results. These

requests are anonymous; we may keep minimal, aggregated request metadata to operate and protect the

service (e.g., rate-limiting, abuse detection, reliability).

Account: if you create an account, we issue a first-party access token (stored on your device,

and only as a hash on the server). If you choose to sign in with a provider (e.g., Google/OIDC), we

receive the provider-verified identity needed to create and recover your account (such as your email

address and display name). This account/identity data is kept private and is not included in any

public discovery response.

Sync: if account sync is on, the App stores your subscription list (and, in later versions,

your queue and playback position) on the PureStream API so it can be reconciled across your devices.

We use this only to provide the sync feature.

5. Diagnostics and analytics

The App is distributed through Google Play and uses Google Play services. The App may collect limited,

largely anonymous diagnostic and usage telemetry (for example via Google Firebase) to keep the App

reliable and to understand which features are used, and may send crash reports to help us fix bugs.

We use this information to operate and improve the App. We do not use it to build advertising profiles,

and we do not sell it. Google's processing of data it collects via Play services/Firebase is governed

by Google's privacy policy.

6. What we do not do

We do not use Pocket Casts, Automattic, or other third-party podcast back-end services.
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
We do not include your account identity (email, provider subject) in public metadata or public

provenance.

7. Who we share data with

Podcast hosts — directly, only to fetch the content you request (Section 3).
Google — as the app store/distribution and (if you choose) sign-in provider, and for Play

services/diagnostics (Section 5).

Service providers that host the PureStream API on our behalf, under confidentiality obligations.

We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our

users and service.

8. Data retention

On-device data remains until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall the App.
Account and sync data is retained while your account exists; deleting your account deletes the

associated subscription/sync records and identity data, subject to short operational backup windows.

9. Your choices

Use the App without an account (no sync data leaves your device).
Turn account sync off, or delete your account, at any time from the App.
Manage Google-level analytics/ad settings through your device and Google account controls.

10. Children

The App is not directed to children under the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, and we do

not knowingly collect personal information from them.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; we will revise the "Effective date" above and, for material changes, provide

notice in the App or on the canonical URL.
