How can we help?
Install and set up
- Get PureStream from our download page, which has step-by-step install instructions. Then open it once.
- Allow Display over other apps so the overlay can appear on top of YouTube.
- Turn on the PureStream accessibility service so it can see which video is playing and jump chapters for you.
- Allow notification access so PureStream can read the media controls.
- Open YouTube and play any video. The overlay appears when chapters are found.
The overlay is not showing
- Check all three permissions are still on in Android Settings. Some updates switch them off.
- Turn off battery optimisation for PureStream so Android does not pause it.
- Make sure the overlay is not set to Off in PureStream Settings.
- Restart YouTube, then play the video again.
Chapters are missing on a video
- Very new uploads can take a little while before S6 Spectra has mapped them.
- Live streams and very short videos may not have chapters.
- Pull down on the chapter list in the app to refresh.
- Still missing after a day? Report it from the app so we can take a look.
PureStream Plus
- Plus arrives with our Google Play release, and will be sold through Google Play.
- There is nothing to buy yet.
Captions and Lyrics modes
- Captions and Lyrics are free for everyone. Turn them on from the chips under the video.
- Captions+ adds the speaker roster, colour lanes and the talk timeline.
- Lyrics+ adds higher quality, tighter sync and new lyric features as they arrive.
- Use A− and A+ on the overlay to change text size, and Names to show or hide speaker names.
